National Union of Students (NUS)

NUS is the National Union of Students. It carries out campaigning and representational work for the whole student body as well as distinct groups of minority students. It also gives various discounts to member unions and their students!!

At UAL we don’t just represent students on a local level, but we can also take your voice to a national stage, through the NUS. The Students’ Union elects and sends a delegation to NUS Annual Conference every year, which gives students from UAL there chance to contribute towards and debate national policy that affects the millions of students studying in the UK.

If elected you would join a team of about 10 other UAL students in Blackpool to be a part of this conference, aside from the chance to create change on a national level it is also a fantastic experience and a chance to socialise and network with a whole range of different students from right across the UK.

Discounts, competitions and support for the NUS!

2009/10 cards are available from the Students' Union head office at the Hub on  Davies Street (Monday to Friday, 9am-6pm) - just take along a passport photograph and your enrolment slip as proof of student status.

The Arts Group

The Arts Group is a Students’ Union representative body for UK FE and HE institutions with a specialist interests in the Arts. Its aim is to research, report, and act on a local, national and international level on issues of importance or common interest to students of Arts subjects and their Students’ Unions. It also aims to offer support and information to members of the Arts Group and provide an opportunity for lobbying in conjunction with organizations such as the NUS.
