//About Student Reps
Coming to University is an amazing opportunity and can be a fantastic experience, by choosing to be a student in Further or Higher Education we make a large commitment to improve ourselves, broaden our knowledge and gain skills. To be able to do this many of us will be paying fees, some people have to spend time away from their families and children, other people take time out of their jobs. So when we make such a large commitment the University should do too. They should commit to providing quality education and services, protecting your welfare and challenging you intellectually. For the most part they do but on the occasions they don’t, we as students must be there to stand up and have our voices not only heard but counted which is exactly what Student Reps are there to do on your behalf.

//What happens?
Student Reps are elected on an annual basis and make up part of the recognised means by which you can comment on your course and your university. Through these reps you are able to voice your opinions about your student experience and have your opinions heard!
Outside of the Exec Committee we elect three different types of student reps; Course Reps, School Reps and Site Reps who undertake a range of activities, both formal and informal and provide a valuable link between the student group and both academic and non academic staff at the University and in the Students’ Union. Student Reps are a valued part of the institution's quality assurance and enhancement processes.

//Want to be a Student Rep?
If you are interested in becoming a Student Rep we start recruitment at the beginning of each academic year and hope to have all reps elected into place around the end of October, no rep rolls over from year to year either, so there is always a chance to get involved no matter what year of study you are in.
Course Reps will be elected by their classmates within the first few weeks of term during lecture time and out of this pool of reps we will find our School Reps and our Site Reps at the first School Forum of the year.
