► Positions & Nominations

What are your resolutions for 2012?

If in 2011 you have thought that there have been problems with your course, your college or anything to do with your life at University perhaps you could resolve to make some change to them this coming year? Or perhaps you have loved your course, your college or everything to do with your life at University then maybe could resolve to represent other students at your college and UAL so that they too can love it as much as you?

In March 2012 we will be electing the students who will represent all of you for the next year. We have a variety of positions which vary in time commitment, pay and the nature of the roles but there is definitely something for everyone if you want to get involved. It doesn't matter if you have never been involved with the student union before we want everyone to get involed and help to make the union better.

All the roles will look amazing on your CV and running in the elections will give you skills that will be an excellent CV addittion in themselves.  You will make lots of new friends and learn lots of new skills.  But most importantly you will make real difference to students lives in your college and across UAL.

Nominations open from 23rd January. Scroll down to find out about all the positions on offer. If you want to chat about the positions in more detail or just find out about getting involved then please get in touch.  Speak to Penny Jerrum, our Democracy and Campaigns Coordinator, on 020 7514 6270 or p.jerrum@su.arts.ac.uk

Why run?

Make a difference to student’s lives across the university. As we cant ask all students their individual opinion every time we do anything we rely on elected representatives to act as the voice of students.

What if I don’t have enough experience?

No experience is necessary to do any of these roles just a passion and enthusiasm for making things happen.

What if I don’t want to run?
VOTE! By voting in these elections you can have your say over how your Student Union is run. By looking at the manifestos, available from the beginning of March, and deciding who you would like to represent you you can have a direct influence over the direction of the Union and ultimately your university.  There are also plenty of ways to get involved with your union without being elected, if you want to find out more get in touch.

If you do not have access to a computer, one will be made available to you in the Students’ Union Head Office. If you are not internet-literate a member of Students’ Union Staff can assist you in using the online forms.
